وُلد إد سليمان في طرابلس شمال لبنان، وبدأ العمل في سن مبكرة لدعم عائلته، قبل أن يهاجر إلى كندا عام 1965. عاش تجربة المهاجرين الأوائل بكل صعوباتها، لكنه استطاع بإصراره وجهده أن يبني مسيرة ناجحة، حيث حصل على تعليمه وأصبح مهندسًا، ثم انتُخب عضوًا في مجلس مدينة ويندسور ممثلاً عن المنطقة الخامسة.
خلال كلمته في حفل افتتاح «Lebanon Way»، أشار سليمان إلى معاناة الجيل الأول من المهاجرين اللبنانيين، والتحديات التي واجهوها في بداية رحلتهم، مؤكدًا أن صمودهم وإصرارهم هو ما أوصل الجالية إلى ما هي عليه اليوم من مكانة وإنجازات.
ويُعد إد سليمان أحد أبرز الوجوه اللبنانية في الحياة العامة في ويندسور، وقد قدم إسهامًا بارزًا للجالية والمدينة من خلال مبادرة نصب الجالية اللبنانية في حديقة ألكسندر، الذي تبرع به مع زوجته فران وتم افتتاحه رسميًا السنة الماضية.

Correction: Windsor City Councillor Ed Sleiman Played a Key Role in “Lebanon Way” Inauguration
In a correction to a previously published report on the inauguration of “Lebanon Way” in the City of Windsor, we are pleased to highlight the important participation of Lebanese-Canadian City Councillor Ed Sleiman, who delivered a speech during the ceremony.
Born in Tripoli, northern Lebanon, Ed Sleiman began working at a young age to support his family before immigrating to Canada in 1965. During his address at the “Lebanon Way” inauguration, Councillor Sleiman spoke movingly about the struggles and hardships faced by the early Lebanese immigrants, sharing their journey of resilience, determination, and eventual success in building a new life in Canada.
Councillor Sleiman has had a long and distinguished career of public service. He was elected to Windsor City Council representing Ward 5 and Ford City, and has been a strong advocate for infrastructure development, economic growth, and community services.
He is also widely recognized for his significant contribution to the Lebanese community through his generous donation — along with his wife Fran — of the Lebanese Community Monument in Alexander Park, which was officially unveiled last year.
This correction acknowledges Councillor Ed Sleiman’s valuable role in the “Lebanon Way” event and honors his longstanding commitment to both the Lebanese community and the City of Windsor.
